Last Friday, I attended a Galentineโs Day cake decorating event at Fleur Studio. For those who donโt know, Galentineโs Day (Girl + Valentineโs Day) is all about celebrating with your girlfriends.
A friend invited me, and I couldnโt say no. I absolutely love girly, crafty activities like this. Maybe itโs the designer in me, but anything hands-on and creative makes me so happy.
We also coordinated our outfits a little. The dress code was white tops and jeans, so I chose a girly lace-detail top from Free People โ the delicate lace made it feel extra cute. For outerwear, I paired it with a suede blazer from Oak + Fort, and wore wide straight-leg jeans from Mango. Since it was a bit chilly, I layered a Sandro cardigan underneath for warmth. I loved my OOTD that day, so of course I took tons of photos. It felt like the perfect outfit for such a girly, fun event.
We arrived after dinner, and the place was already packed. There was a DJ, and the whole studio had such a fun, party-like atmosphere. We purchased a cake and decorating kit from one of the vendors for $25, then walked around to check out the other booths. The keychain-making booth was especially popular.
Unfortunately, there werenโt many tables available inside the studio, so decorating there wasnโt really an option. Instead, we brought our cakes home and decided to decorate them in a more relaxed setting.
Weโre both boy moms, but we definitely have very girly tastes, so we truly enjoy activities like this. Every now and then, itโs nice to do something just for ourselves.

Where I am now Iโm back on Instagram, but with a different relationship to it.
Iโm not here to build a feed. Iโm here to build a life.
One where my energy goes toward what truly matters. One where I stay present, grounded, and aligned with who I am becoming.
That year offline wasnโt a pause. It was a realignment.
Here, I quote one of the most powerful and inspiring passages I read last year from the book Let Them Theory.
โLet me create a better life. A life that makes me proud. A life that makes me happy. A life where I use my precious energy to enjoy every single moment I have.โ

Itโs been a while since I last wrote here. More than a month, actually. I want to share our trip to Hawaii in December!
Escaping the cold, gray days of Seattle, we flewโalmost impulsivelyโto sunny Hawaii. This end-of-year family trip came with no strict plans, no packed itinerary. Just one simple intention: letโs rest.
And honestly? We ate well, rested well, and played well. Exactly what we needed.
We started the day early and stayed busyโin the best way.
Our first stop was Don Quijote for breakfast: onigiri, snacks for our little one, juice, and coffee. Then we stopped by Nicoโs Pier 38 to grab poke and sashimi to go, followed by La Tour Cafe (after accidentally walking into the cafรฉ next door ๐ ) for bread, kouign-amann, macarons, and banh mi sandwiches.
With arms full of food, we headed to Ala Moana Park, laid out a picnic mat, and enjoyed everything by the ocean. After eating, we played by the beach for a bitโsimple, peaceful, perfect.
๐ Don Quijote onigiri is seriously good. Especially the mentaiko cream onigiriโฆ unforgettable ๐ฅน
๐ Nicoโs Pier 38 is known for its incredibly fresh fish. You can dine in with an ocean view, but we opted for takeout and a picnic instead.
๐ La Tour Cafe bakes fresh bread daily. The banh mi sandwich was amazing, and the macarons were a standoutโhighly recommend guava and lilikoi flavors.
By the time we got home, it was only 2 PM. Our toddler fell asleep for his nap, and we enjoyed a slow, quiet afternoon.
We spent Christmas in Hawaiiโand honestly, it didnโt feel like Christmas at all with the warm weather.
Our son is two now, just old enough to kind of understand Santaโฆ maybe? Still, he happily opened two presents that morning.
We had planned a beach dayโbut when we went outsideโฆ the car battery was dead ๐ซ
My in-lawsโ car is an older Honda Fit, and something was clearly off. Not knowing exactly what the issue was, we plugged the battery into a charger and changed plans.
New plan: spam musubi and onigiri for breakfast (again). The onigiri was so good, we didnโt mind repeating it.
Without a car, we walked slowly around the neighborhood and found a famous shave ice spot nearby.
๐ Waiola Shave Ice A retro-style shave ice shop that felt like stepping back in time. Perfect for kids, charming atmosphereโand now Leo can finish an entire shave ice by himself. If anyone touches his, he has opinions ๐
Dinner was a Christmas party at my husbandโs auntโs place. She prepared so much food, and we were incredibly grateful.
Her condo near Ala Moana was on the 41st floorโthe view was unreal. From the living room, we could see Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head. We couldnโt stop admiring it.
Day three started with another problemโthe car wouldnโt start again. Morning panic.
We gave up on the car and rented one through ๐ Hui Car Share Itโs a great hourly car-sharing service: affordable, convenient, and perfect for emergencies.
We headed to Kailua, our first time visiting Lanikai Beach. The neighborhood was charming and full of great restaurants.
๐ Mokeโs Bread & Breakfast The lilikoi pancakes were incredible. They have multiple locations, but this Kailua spot was perfectโshort wait and delicious.
๐ ChadLouโs Coffee Roasters A small local roastery near the restaurant. Great coffee, and any cafรฉ with an in-house roaster is usually a safe bet.
๐ Lanikai Beach Famous for its unreal ocean colorโand it truly lives up to the hype. The sand is soft, perfect for kids to play in. It was windy and the waves were a bit strong, but still so fun.
The weather wasnโt overly hotโjust right for swimming. Leo isnโt afraid of the ocean anymore, and playing together in the water was pure joy. We even saw a sea turtle while swimming. Sharing the ocean with turtles felt surreal and beautiful.
Morning grocery run at Don Quijote again. A โsimpleโ haul turned into $120โฆ Hawaii prices are no joke.
๐ Honolulu Zoo Located right next to Waikiki Beachโsuper convenient. We didnโt expect much, but it was surprisingly large with lots to see.
There were monkeys, elephants, giraffesโand even tigers. Seeing a tiger that close was a first for us.
Leo, however, was far more excited about farm animals ๐ Cows, goats, pigsโthose stole the show.
The weather was warm but comfortable, making it perfect for walking around.
๐ Knots Coffee Roasters Located across from the zoo, inside the Hotel Queen Kapiolani. I had an acai bowl and a Longboard Latte.
I always order flavored lattes in Hawaii, and this oneโwith macadamia nut syrupโwas so good. Nutty, sweet, and uniquely Hawaiian.
Dinner at ๐ Kickin Cajun A Korean-owned Cajun seafood spot. We chose a mildly spicy option; Leo had coconut shrimp and fries. Everything was delicious.
We ended the day watching Moana 2 together. Leo can now sit through an entire movie, which makes family movie nights so much fun.
We spent our last day slowly, eating good food and resting.
๐ Kona Coffee Purveyors Always a long lineโaround 30 minutes. The coffee and kouign-amann are good, but the wait is long. Next time, I might skip it.
๐ Korea Garden I usually avoid Korean restaurants while traveling, but this place was fantastic.
We ordered galbi, seolleongtang, bibim naengmyeon, bulgogi, and dolsot bibimbapโeverything was delicious. Even my husbandโs aunt (who isnโt Korean) loved it and kept scraping her plate clean.
๐ Monkeypod Kitchen Absolute must-visit.
Make sure to go around sunsetโ4:30 PM or later. We enjoyed live music, ocean breeze, and one of the most dramatic sunsets Iโve ever seen in Hawaii.
The food, cocktails, serviceโeverything was perfect. Kids under three eat free, and nearby live music in the hotel lobby made the night even more magical.
Weekends are always for the park. When we decided to move to the Seattle area, it was mainly for one reason โto raise our child surrounded by nature. Somehow 2025 is already coming to a close. Time moved so fast this year that I honestly donโt know where it all went. But as I look back, I wanted to take a moment to deeply thank myself for everything Iโve carried, survived, and created.
โ๏ธ March โ Traveled to Japan with my 1.5-year-old baby ๐ผ Late March โ Started a new job and jumped straight into working-mom life ๐ถ Survived the daycare adjustment period ๐ May โ Became a U.S. citizen ๐ด July โ Hawaii with my family ๐ด September โ LA trip ๐ด December โ Wrapped up the year in Hawaii again
All of this while my husbandโs work hours stayed late. I did all the drop-offs and pick-ups, worked full-time, took care of the home, and in the one little hour I had left each day, I chose to invest in my creativity. I kept practicing AI image creation, slowly but surely building new skills. And honestly? That alone deserves a huge round of applause.
These two spaces became little homes for my thoughts, memories, and creativity. And on Threads, I met 948 new friends who walk this journey with me โ something I never expected but deeply appreciate.
There were days when I wondered, โWhatโs the point of all this?โ Days when it felt like no one noticed my effort. But I kept going. The old me wouldโve quit, but this yearโฆ I didnโt. And thatโs what makes me proud.
This year taught me more than any self-help book ever could. Here are the lessons that held me together:
1๏ธโฃ Letting go of perfection = survival
No day will ever be perfect โ not the house, not work, not parenting. Accepting โtoday, this is good enoughโ is everything.
2๏ธโฃ Willpower doesnโt replace basic needs
Sleep, food, water. When those fall apart, everything else does too. This is the most practical form of self-care.
3๏ธโฃ Less guilt = more energy
Mom guilt, work guilt, personal guiltโฆ Once I stopped carrying all of that, my days flowed so much easier.
4๏ธโฃ Asking for help is strategy, not weakness
The moment I allowed myself to lean on others, I could finally breathe.
5๏ธโฃ Not โlater,โ but โa little nowโ
10 minutes. 30 minutes. Anything small that keeps me connected to myself โ thatโs what saved me from losing who I am.
Being a mom and working means constantly feeling like youโre juggling too much and still dropping balls. But creating these small routines and boundaries helped me stay grounded in who I am, not just what I do for others.
Welcome! Itโs finally my favorite season of the year โ Christmas! This year, Iโve been attending so many Christmas parties that I havenโt been able to blog as much as I wanted. Today, Iโm excited to share a little story from our pink-themed Christmas party, which we hosted for Leoโs daycare friends a couple of weekends ago.
The idea for a Pink Christmas Party came from Pinterest. I instantly fell in love with its soft, feminine, and romantic vibe. I think this theme became even more popular recently after LoveShackFancy launched their Christmas decoration collection this season.
We started by creating and handing out invitations. Having a mood board and invitation prepared in advance makes party planning so much easier, and it also helps guests quickly understand the overall vibe and dress code.
I co-hosted the party with a close mom friend, which definitely made things more manageable. I was in charge of decorations, so I brought many items from home and purchased additional pieces as needed. Since we planned a dessert table, I also prepared desserts in advance.
Most of the decorations were purchased from HomeGoods, World Market, and Amazon, while the balloons and helium tank were from Target. There were so many adorable items โ it was hard to resist!
For the entrance, I went all out with balloon decorations and IKEA star lights. I wanted guests to have a dramatic โwowโ moment as soon as they walked in, so I filled the space with balloons and placed the star right in the center. The balloons and garlands were all from Target.
Inside the house, I added garlands and pink velvet ribbons throughout to bring in a festive Christmas feel. Pink candles were the final touch โ they really completed the pink Christmas mood. I even tied pink velvet ribbons onto the champagne glasses for a little extra detail.
The area I focused on the most was the dessert table. I bought a plain red velvet cake and decorated it myself with cookies and berries โ isnโt it so cute? We also prepared a variety of gingerbread cookies and shortbread cookies, along with marshmallows and hot cocoa. (Although, I wish the hot cocoa had been more popular!)
The hot cocoa set was from HomeGoods, and I loved how cute it was โ it even came with different flavors. The Santa cookie jar is something I use every year, and itโs honestly perfect for Christmas decor.
Leo, his friends, and all the families had such a wonderful time together. Christmas really is about sharing special moments with people you love. The kids also played a Secret Santa game and each took home a gift โ seeing how happy they were made all of us smile.
I realized I donโt have many photos of myself, but hereโs a behind-the-scenes shot from the preparation process. You can probably tell how hard we workedโฆ ๐
As you know, Iโm a fashion designer โ and I love to dress up. But what I love even more is dressing up my kid. ๐ฅฐI try my best not to go overboard with shopping since kids grow so fast and most clothes only last a few months. But stillโฆ I canโt resist picking upโฆ
Tickets: Adult ticket is $50, and kids under 3 are free. We purchased the annual pass for $145 (covers 2 adults) โ and it also gives you 50% off guest tickets, which is honestly a great deal if you go more than twice.
The Seattle Aquarium now has two buildings โ the newly built one and the original space.
The moment we walked into the new building, we were greeted by a massive floor-to-ceiling tank filled with sea creatures. It was dramatic, beautiful, and honestly breathtaking.
On the second floor, I loved the ergonomic and immersive tank design in the center of the space. There were three big tropical tanks filled with colorful fish and coral-like decorations. The height was perfect for kids โ short enough that Leo could watch everything without being held.
Behind the main wall, there was another giant tank with sharks swimming peacefully. The shark would glide past the window and โsurpriseโ all the little kids sitting in front of it. Leo kept squealing every time it came close. It was very cool to see a shark that close.
There was also a small play area for kids with sea-creature toys and educational displays. Leo sat there for a long time, totally focused.
After exploring the new building, we headed over to the old one โ Iโve been there before, so I had an idea of what to expect.
Leoโs favorite, of course, was the touch tide pools, where kids can touch starfish, sea urchins, and ํด์ผ. He climbed up and leaned forward so excitedly, saying โ๋! ๋!โ every time he touched something. It was adorable.
Our favorite was the giant octopus. It was huge โ Iโve never seen an octopus that big in my life. Watching it move slowly with its long eight legs and massive suction cups was mesmerizing. Leo got a little scared and ran away, which honestly made us laugh. ๐
The first building also had more marine mammals. We watched a giant seal swimming gracefully and some adorable sea otters enjoying their lunch. They were eating big scallops and begging for more โ so cute. The highlight was the river otter, swimming energetically and coming right up to the glass as if saying hello.
Of course, we had to stop by the gift shop before leaving. We bought a set of colorful ocean-themed bath toys for Leo, and he loved pointing out each animal he saw earlier in the aquarium.
Since the aquarium is located right below Pike Place Market, there are so many food options.
We went to Mr. Fish, a Fish & Chips place, and everything was delicious โ very crispy, very flavorfulโฆ and also very salty ๐ But overall, we enjoyed it.
After lunch, we walked through Pike Place Market and stopped by the famous French bakery Le Panier, since there was almost no line. We bought several pastries โ their pistachio รฉclair is popular, but my husband loves the lemon tart.
On our way home, the weather was gray and chilly, and we all felt sleepy and cozy after a full day of exploring. But spending this kind of day together โ walking, eating, discovering new things โ made me so happy. Next time, weโre planning to come back with Leoโs friends too!

A few days ago, I shared a little story on Threads about living with my in-laws. I honestly didnโt expect such a warm responseโฆ but so many of you left the kindest comments, and it truly meant a lot to me. ๐ฅน
Since so many people were curious, I wanted to share more about what itโs really like to live with my baby boomer in-laws here in the U.S.โ especially the good parts that make this unique living situation surprisingly special.
If something breaks or needs fixing, I literally just say, โDad, the light bulb in the hallway went out,โ and by the time I come home from work, itโs already replaced.
Not only thatโhe manages seasonal maintenance, outdoor cleanup, and all those little house tasks I usually wouldnโt even notice until they become a problem.
My father-in-law loves gardening, and every year he fills the backyard with herbs and veggies.
This year he grew:
tomatoes
green beans
basil
thyme
rosemary
lettuce
parsley
Thereโs something magical about cooking with ingredients that were still growing five minutes ago. It feels like having our own mini farmersโ market.
Thanksgiving and Christmas in this house are next-level. They host these big, warm, classic American holiday parties with family, relatives, and friends.
You know those 90s holiday movies where the house is full of people, food, laughter, Christmas decor, and cozy chaos? Yep. Thatโs exactly what it feels like.
Every year Iโm reminded how special this tradition is.
๐ Living Together Isnโt Always Easy, But It Is Meaningful
Of course, living with family has its challenges. Different habits, different rhythms, generational differencesโฆ
But there are also so many moments of warmth, comfort, and gratitude woven into our everyday life.
Living with my in-laws has taught me that family isnโt just about sharing spaceโ itโs about sharing care, effort, and small gestures that make daily life softer.
Iโm grateful for them. And Iโm grateful I get to share these stories with you. ๐ค

Today Iโm sharing the IKEA kidsโ items weโve been loving, plus a few extra pieces that make our play area feel warm, cozy, and functional. (All product details are listed below ๐)
This little corner has been with us since my baby was just a few months old. We read here, build blocks here, play pretend, have tea partiesโฆ and sometimes just sit and chat with Dad. Itโs truly the center of our day.
Keeping everything in warm wood tones + neutrals has helped the space blend beautifully with the rest of our home while still feeling playful and inviting for our little one.
One of our most-used toys ever! Cooking, pretend play, tea partiesโฆ it grows with your child. The grey + wood color combo also makes it really easy to style at home.
A classic IKEA item but SO versatile. Drawing, sticker time, daily activitiesโand during parties, we even use it as a signboard (it was our Izakaya party menu board ๐).
The colors are adorable, the quality is great, and it photographs beautifully! Definitely one of those toys that bring as much joy to moms as it does to kids.
A kidsโ playzone doesnโt have to be complicated or expensive. With a few well-chosen items, you can create a space that feels warm, inviting, and perfect for everyday moments with your little one.
If youโre planning your own kidsโ corner, I hope this helps inspire you ๐ค

I thought Iโd share a little story today about something people always get curious aboutโฆ Whatโs it like living with my American in-laws?
My husband, our two-year-old, and I have been living with my in-laws in Seattle for almost two years now. Whenever I tell people this, the first reaction is always: โHow do you live together? Is it okay? Isnโt it hard?โ
And honestly? Itโs been much better than people assume โ surprisingly peaceful, respectful, and even warm.
A quick note: My in-laws are fourth-generation Japanese American. (They donโt speak Japanese โ theyโre fully Americanized and speak only English.) And maybe because of that, they truly respect boundaries. They never interfere with our parenting, our routines, or our personal life.
Leo, my almost 2-year-old, goes to daycare during the day, and one of my favorite little routines is taking him to the park after I pick him up. I just love watching him run around and enjoy himselfโit feels like pure joy. I also try to explore different parks so he can have new littleโฆ
