The Slower Days

I went to my beautiful friend Cassie’s birthday party in Kirkland, and it was such a perfect day. The party was at her sister’s gorgeous beach-front house, and the weather was sunny and warm — just right for enjoying the view and soaking up the sun.

이번 주말, 아름다운 친구 캐시(Cassie)의 생일파티에 다녀왔어요. 파티는 커클랜드에 있는 캐시 언니의 멋진 바닷가뷰 집에서 열렸는데, 마침 날씨도 화창하고 따뜻해서 바다와 햇살을 마음껏 즐길 수 있어 너무 행복했죠.

Her sister hosted the most charming floral-themed tea party. We all wore floral print dresses, sipped rosé, and enjoyed the prettiest desserts. Cassie has been such a special friend to me ever since I moved to Seattle — and fun fact, we share the same birthday! (Both Virgos 💫) How amazing is that?

캐시의 언니가 준비한 테마는 ‘플로럴 티 파티’였어요. 모두 꽃무늬 원피스를 입고, 향긋한 로즈 티와 달콤한 디저트를 즐겼답니다. 데코도 너무 이쁘고 디저트도 다 너무 맛있어서 너무 좋더라구요. 언니가 얼음 안에 생화를 얼려서 데코한 걸 보고 다음 파티에는 나도 해봐야겠다고 생각했어요. 너무 예쁘더라구요.

She’s one of the sweetest people I know — with a big heart, an amazing mom to her two sons, and a wonderful wife. We first met through our husbands, but we quickly connected because we’re so similar in so many ways. I’m so happy I got to celebrate her birthday, meet her sister and friends, and spend such a lovely day together. I honestly feel so lucky to have found friends like Cassie here in Seattle — my life would be so different without them.

캐시는 제가 시애틀로 이사 온 이후로 제게 큰 힘이 되어준 소중한 친구예요. 게다가 우리 둘 생일이 똑같다는거! (둘 다 처녀자리♍) 얼마나 신기하고 특별한 인연인지요. 그녀는 두 아들의 좋은 엄마이자, 멋진 아내이고, 마음이 넓고 따뜻한 사람이에요. 남편들을 통해 처음 만났지만, 많은 부분에서 닮아서 금세 친해졌어요. 이번 생일을 함께 축하하며 그녀의 언니와 친구들도 알게 되어 정말 기뻤어요.

After tea, we did a sip & paint while watching the beautiful water view. It was so much more fun than I expected! I realized how much I love painting — I haven’t painted like that since I graduated college, and it brought back so many memories. I even painted the scenery right in front of me to remember the moment.

그리고 이날 ‘Sip & Paint’도 했어요. 바닷가 풍경을 바라보며 와인을 마시고 그림을 그렸는데, 생각보다 훨씬 재미있었어요. 대학 졸업 이후 이렇게 제대로 그림을 그려본 건 처음이라 옛 추억이 새록새록 떠올랐고, 다시 그림을 자주 그리고 싶다는 마음이 들었어요. 저는 그 순간을 간직하고 싶어서, 눈앞의 바다 풍경을 그림으로 담아봤답니다.

The older I get, the more I realize how precious every moment is. I want to soak it all in and never forget how lucky I am — to be surrounded by such amazing people in such a beautiful place I once dreamed of. So here’s to life! And if you’re reading this, I hope your life is filled with joy and beauty, too. 💛

나이가 들수록 매 순간이 얼마나 소중한지 깨닫게 돼요. 함께 웃고, 기뻐하고, 아름다운 곳에서 좋은 사람들과 시간을 보내는 이 모든 순간이 참 감사해요. 이곳에서의 삶이 늘 꿈꿔왔던 모습이라는 게 믿기지 않을 만큼 행복해요.

그래서 오늘은 이렇게, 우리의 삶에 건배를.
